God is holy and perfect, and He created us to reflect His holiness. But when sin entered the world, our relationship with Him was broken. We became sinful and imperfect, and unable to restore ourselves.
Because He loves us deeply, God sent His only Son, Jesus, to provide the way for us to be reconciled with Him. Jesus was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect and sinless life, performed mighty works, and willingly went to the cross. He died, was buried, and rose again on the third day. He later ascended into heaven, where He now sits at the right hand of God, interceding for us.
Jesus paid the price due for our sin and offers His righteousness in exchange for our brokenness so we can be reconciled to God. Whoever believes in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus will have eternal life.
You become a Christian when you surrender your life to God and follow Jesus Christ. To become a Christian you must:
Admit you are a sinner in need of a savior. Ask God to forgive you of your sin.
Trust in Jesus alone as your savior. Be truly sorry and turn away from your sin.
Make Jesus the Lord of your life.
If you sincerely desire to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, pray this prayer or one similar:
Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead so I could live. I need and ask for your forgiveness. Jesus, I am placing my faith in you alone for my salvation. Come into my heart and be Lord over my life. In Jesus' name, Amen!
If you have said this prayer, we invite you to share your experience with us! We are eager to celebrate and support you. Should you have any inquiries or need assistance in finding a local church that follows Christ, please reach out to us.
Now that you're a Christian, it's important to grow spiritually to deepen your relationship with God and your faith in Jesus. Here's how:
Pray. Prayer is simply communicating with God. Pray from your heart. Speak to God throughout your day. Talk with Him about what you're learning in the Bible. Prayer also involves listening. We hear from God in several ways - through His Word, through the Holy Spirit, through prayer, through other people, and through life circumstances.
Study the Bible. Choose a bible translation that's easy to understand while keeping true to the original text. Some bible apps, such as YouVersion, offer a variety of translations to explore. A great place to begin reading the bible is the New Testament, where you can learn about the life and teachings of Jesus.
Be Baptized. Baptism is a public symbol of your new life in Christ. Jesus himself was baptized and calls His followers to take this step of obedience as well.
Join a Christ-Following Church. Christians need to be with like-minded people for encouragement, discipleship, and accountability. Church members worship, pray, serve, and walk through life together.
Tell Others About Your Faith. Jesus calls us to make disciples. Tell others what Jesus is doing in your life and what He can do in their life as well.
